I'm an identical twin. Sometimes I forget how lucky I was to be born along with another human who would be there as my best friend, for life. It's not quite like having a regular sibling. The bond goes deeper, like similar DNA. As a result, I see pairs of things that appear to be the same, but upon closer examination are different. These chairs caught my eye last week while I did an artist-in-residence program. Sometimes you need to get to know twins before the differences are apparent. These chairs were like that. What fun it was to get to know them over two hours as they were bathed in a sweet evening light.

Very nice Ron, I like the composition and the shadows against the clapboard siding. The red chairs really pop.
I just love the simplicity of this composition and the chairs are exquisite! I loved your post too; found it quite interesting and the parallels you made to the chairs made me smile. I noticed right off that they were slightly different (you might be surprised my thoughts went immediately to wondering if the owner bought them at the same time...)!
I like the subject and composition. Funny, their main construction difference was immediately apparent in the painting - probably because they were paired, rather than in spite of it. Must be my perspective!
So glad the chairs "caught your eye". Now we can enjoy them as well. The simplicity of this subject, the composition, the shadows and strong color contrasts create a powerful and memorable image. Love it.
Makes me want to be there. Lovely light...
Great painting, Ron - and I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on being a twin!
Yes, a great post and a great painting. Wonderful how you tied it all together.
I agree with all of the above!
