"Round Bales at Dusk" pastel by Tatiana Myers.

"Round Bales at Dusk"
Pastel study on Wallis 12 x 9"
I'm back to those Hay Bales, what Claire just painted. This is by any mean not finished work, but color study just for practice. I couldn't paint those on location and worked in studio. Fine part was HDR photo manipulation, because I wanted to have a more warm light of sunset, compare to what my reference image preserved for me.
I started from this (what is pretty nice scene at my opinion)

... and ended up with this... General idea was - to make bales look more interesting
with some warm highlights. Naturally I rearranged whole scene a little too
 to create a better composition.

Then I worked on my study with most accent on those bales.
It was something interesting. I got to play with some solvents and some tools, it was fun.

Love that warm cast over the scene, Tatiana. It reminds me of the great old antique paintings that I am forever wanting to buy but never have the money! LOL It is beautiful!

It's incredible to me when I think of how many people will pass by a scene like this and never even notice it. We artiss are so fortunate to notice, be in awe of and then recreate it, hopefully to awaken others to the beauty right in front of them. Just lovely, Tatiana.

Thank You, Sherry, Marry Beth, Cecelia, Jennifer and Amy!
I'm glad you all enjoy and and happy to be able to share a process... I owe idea to few other friends-artists what using digital manipulation a lot, before they paint... because I'm mostly working from photoreferences it is very impotent for me to create a right mood and light in my photos. It is my "pre-painting" process and helps me a lot, because I'm already thinking about how I will paint it, how I will change composition if needed etc. With this particular photo I was lucky enough - it didn't need to many adjustments. But I like it much better after it was re-worked. once again - I'm glad you all like it as well.
