RED HOT SUNRISE By Cecelia Lyden

oil on stretched canvas

8x10

Inspired by this hot, hot weather and an upcoming art exhibit, I revisited this amazing Florida sunrise. I experienced one gorgeous sunrise after another during our visit last winter. Reds and oranges galore. Happily my camera captured them all. I painted them from photos. Plein air painting would have been very difficult. The sky kept rapidily changing.

I think it is very difficult to successfully reproduce the glowing, luminescence of a sunset - but you have done this with such skill - absolutely gorgeous, Cecelia!

It's just glorious, Cecelia. Brings back memories of skies I've seen like that one.

We did a similar project in class last week and the students all did so well with this subject. I like the wave clouds in your image and the warmth of the sunset.

This is beautiful Cecelia! And a clever response to the "Red Hot" theme.
