Morning Light at Two Mile House, plein air watercolor by Linda Young

I had the wonderful pleasure of painting with the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters last Thursday at Two Mile House just outside of Carlisle across from KMart on the Walnut Bottom Road.

Knowing I only had a little over two hours to paint before I'd have to leave to go to work, I arrived about 45 minutes before the scheduled time everyone else would be arriving. They were going to meet at 9am.

The morning light was spectacular as the sunlight lit the tops of the shrubs and penetrated the petals of the flowers and leaves on the colorful trees.  I had to paint fast and started with the sunlit area first to be certain I wouldn't lose that light.

I know one thing for sure; I'll be going back to Two Mile House again to paint plein air.  With the call of the red-tailed hawk pair in the trees and the beautiful gardens and gentle breezes, there are more paintings just waiting to happen.

Oh, did I tell you?  My new love is "Plein Air Painting!"

Beautiful, Linda. I was totally impressed with how fast you were working! This really turned out to be a beautiful painting.
I am hoping to finish mine when we go back to Two Mile House to paint again this Thursday.

So fresh-such a nice feeling of warm sunshine and cool shadows.I am fairly new to plein air painting and it is frustrating at times, but there is definitly a magical feeling you experience when you finally get set up and begin to paint with all the wonderful outdoor sounds and smells. Hope to see you tomorrow at 2 Mile House.

Autumn, Cecelia and Debra. I appreciate the comments. I can't be at Two Mile House because of a prior appointment but I will be thinking of you all.
