Some of you may remember a series of posts I made in February and March of this year, regarding an experimental piece I was working on involving oriental "masa" paper, soaked in water and creased, then flattened and painted with watercolor, with detail later added with colored pencil. That particular piece, when completed, was of some peonies, and I eventually titled it "Peony Dreams". I'm happy to say that it sold at Lyn O'Neal's Art and Soul Gallery in Lemoyne, in the early summer.
The two shown above have been started in the same method using the masa paper. The top image I hope to turn into a winter woods scene based on some photos I have taken of the woods along the turnpike between PA and OH, highlighting the young beech trees which keep their leaves throughout the winter, though sometimes those leaves become very pale and present almost an "albino" appearance. The second image I have already begun to add a bit of detail to, indicating the form of some of my hydrangeas. I'll keep you posted as they progress!

I love the colors you chose for both and will look forward to see them progress. I stopped by your gallery on Wednesday afternoon but you were closed. I will try again next time I am in Gettysburg.

This looks like a very interesting process. so much texture and interest. I like it!
Especially with the second piece, I saw hydrangeas in the abstract patterns immediately! These are wonderful, Amy and I look forward to seeing more.
