Wildwood Sanctuary by Mary Beth Brath

Wildwood Sanctuary
16x12" Acrylic on Canvas
$250

Early spring outside of Harrisburg PA, Wildwood Sanctuary bursts into life and color. This was started on site and the people and some other details were added in my studio. I love to paint plein air, but I am not a purist. Practicing for a plein air competition and actually competing require many rules and regulations...which is fine in that arena.

Mary Beth--love the composition[ the narrow start of the waterway, its swelling, then gradual narrowing again], loose brushwork and the complementary color scheme.

Nice painting & colors. Very evocative of Pennsylvania in March. I like the figures for scale.

Is it our first paint out of the year, when we all tried to work very fast, then got cold and ran ?!.. :-)
Nice finish on this one Mary Beth!

Gorgeous autumn colors and I can almost smell the change towards winter!

I never really noticed the colors of early spring until I started plein air painting. The alizarin crimson in the distance were buds ready to burst on the trees. The crimson in the front were fresh vines growing up through the older vines. Now this scene is completely different and full of water lilies and reeds etc.

I agree, the colors are nice and I especially like the figures that put it all in scale.
