Garden at Trout Run by Mary Beth Brath

Garden at Trout Run

9x12" Acrylic on Watercolor Paper

The temperatures have been very warm in Pennsylvania this summer. Last week, a few of us gathered to paint at 7:30am to beat the heat. I was ready to leave at 10am and headed for the air conditioned studio! I finished most of this onsite and decided to add more "sky holes" for interest once I was back in the studio drinking ice water.

A woman "after my own heart"--comfort allows better concentration. I love the composition of this piece--the pull of the flowers and trees to the left and the pull back from the shadows to the right.

I wish my perennial bed were that neat! It's very sweet, and it makes me want to buy more mulch. An inspiration!

Well, you got me at 'flowers'! This is beautifully done, Mary Beth - I get the feel of a garden on a hot, humid day.
