Watercolor
This was a painting challenge from the Paint and Draw together blogspot Lela Stankovic gave to the artist/bloggers. The original photo has a large commercial building in the background but Lela said she wished there were a cabin there instead...so I put one in. This cabin also reminds me of the cabin my family had at the Conodoguinet Creek, Cumberland County, Pa. This Cabin on the lake was painted on 140# Arches Watercolor paper with transparent watercolor. Masking was done in the foreground and stencils were made to create different patterns for foliage. The bird in the tree was a happy accident so I placed a branch under it to perch upon.
I wanted the viewer to feel as if they were sitting in the shadows across the lake from the cabin just waiting for someone to come out of the opened door.

This is just beautiful. The silhouetted grasses in the foreground...the gorgeous trees and shrubs in the background...the little wee cabin...Beautiful skies...
so beautiful... the foreground darks are great!
Breathtaking! I particularly like the distant tree line.
Linda, really nice painting. My eye is drawn in to your colorful shoreline and reflections.
Thank you Pat.
