"Pickett's Division, Southern Virginia" by Michael LeKites


This was another Civil War piece I did a few years back. Sold after exhibiting. Acrylic. Approx. size was 24x36.

Michael--Your Civil War soldier paintings remind me of the watercolors Winslow Homer did when he was covering the War for, I think, Harper's. His were not as complete as yours, but they still were quite detailed. Your figures are posed in such an interesting way--horizontal movement though the hands, hats, knees and bayonets

I just spent ten days plein air painting in Gettysburg, and this just makes me feel as though I walked back onto any one of the battlefields of the 1860's!
