Woven in Thought~ Linda Young, artist

Woven in Thought
Watercolor
Linda Young, artist

This lady and others are some of the entrepreneurs of Charleston, S.C. "Slave Market" where arts, crafts, food, jewelry and other items are sold. She was selling her handmade baskets outside one of the entrances. I watched her weaving and mannerism from a distance and for a moment she appeared to just stop and think about something far away from the place she was sitting. I was locked in thought with her and took a photo of that moment. In this market place were the wealthy, the poor, the little children being tugged along by anxious adults and people of different races, cultures and faiths. Thanks to the freedom we are all blessed with, we are free to do the things we love to do too.

Linda, I love the painting, and the thoughts that went with it. This is so beautifully and sensitively painted.

A beautiful painting and thoughts to go along with it, Linda. I find myself warming to those bricks, imagining the life and history they have seen through the years. Almost magical...

Everyday people engaged in the everyday events of their lives-true genre subject matter and so very exciting to paint. Wonderful composition-

Great painting Linda! My husband and I have visited that market a couple times while visiting Charleston. Really neat place! Thanks for sharing.

What a unique painting, Linda. You captured a lot more in this painting that just a portrait/figure; great job.
