VIRGINIA BLUEBELLS
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Virginia Bluebells'
Oil on 6 x 8 Stretched Canvas

I look forward to these Virginia bluebells blossoming
at the far end of my yard each year. I planted them
in the corner under some large hemlock trees, and
enjoy the range of blues and pinks they display when
they bloom. The blossoms don't last long, so I know
there's a very limited time-frame to get them painted!

This was one of those lucky set-ups. I just put the flowers
in the glass bottle, and they automatically landed in a nice,
natural 'pose'. The stems of the bluebells bend so gracefully from the
weight of the flowers, and I am really happy that this
was evident as I started to paint.

If you would like to see more of my work, please

So many flowers being painted! I wonder why?
Love the setting in a mason jar. A very beautiful painting!

Claire, as soon as the page opened for DPP I knew this was your painting even before reading it. The colors, composition and essence of the flowers and jar are wonderful.
Love it!

I was thrilled to find Virginia bluebells thrive out here ... I never saw them in the woods of Northern New Jersey. The balance of your painting is perfect, and you did a great job on the glass jar!
