Flying by the seat of my pants, again!
I just finished this watercolor painting, Sanctuary, for the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society member show. (May 2 - June 6th at Sim Chas Gallery, Carson Street, Pittsburgh, PA)
It has been awhile since I have done an actual painting, not just a demonstration. I missed it.
Drop off is today and I better go cut a mat and get this framed!
Update: I was honored to win the Cad Scarlett award for this painting.

Maria, this is a splendid piece. The perspective works so well with the figure, and the colored scarf on her head will resonate with many of us who had grandmas and great aunts who always made sure their heads were covered for church. I have enjoyed this series so much, and this is my new favorite.
This is a nice painting Maria. I like the perspective.
This is wonderful, and I love the colored scarf. I've always sensed that these ladies' only vanity was their collection of colorful scarves!
it says to me...life is harsh but there is hope......beautiful work!
Simply gorgeous, Maria! I like what Bertie said about harshness and hope. A keen insight there!
Maria - I can't wait to see your work in person! I love this one too.
Maria, I'll try to get down to the arts festival to see your work. Good luck and congrats on the emerging artist award!
