Something about this scene really spoke to
me... only two chairs, near the water, far from
civilization, implied quiet and peacefulness.

I was asked about using yellow in my paintings.
This is an easy question. I am drawn to shadows and
warmth. In order to get the level of warmth I like
you must use Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow
and New Gambouge as the underpaint.

Thanks for discussing my yellow comment. I use yellow ocher in my sky and underpaintings a lot myself. But I also like how you use a lot of yellow in objects as a focal point.
This painting reminds me so much of a vacation my wife and I took to Prince Edward Island. The Inn we stayed at had a setting just like you painted. Thank you for bringing back a wonderful memory in such a beautiful way.
Lovely scene with great depth in the composition.
I'd like to crawl right into this cozy little painting, and park myself on on of the adirondack chairs.
I'm with you on that thought Claire. Looks so inviting.
