OZARK MOUNTAIN HOME by Dianne Lorden

Pastel, 9" x 12"
This painting I completed yesterday is based on a photo I took at the wonderful mountain cottage we stayed in during a visit a few years ago to the Ozarks (northwest Arkansas). The title has a double meaning ... it refers to the cottage, of course, but also to the adorable bird house "complex" that was built into the great rustic stairway that led down to the main house from where we stayed. I'd go back there in a minute!

Lovely painting Dianne. Looks like a great place for a retreat.

Oh Dianne! This is really breathtaking! That sky and the colors you've used give the sky the appearance of an approaching storm, all quiet and still, just waiting and watching. Sigh...I'd go here myself!

A beautiful, fanciful interpretation of your photo.By the way, I read in your profile that one of your favorite movies is "The Enchanted Cottage".Is it possble that is the same "Enchanted Cottage", with Robert Young and Dorothy Mcquire that I loved when I was a child in the late forties?

Your painting is wonderful. Loved the staircase with the "home" waiting to welcome you.

This is a lovely painting, Dianne - and would be just the type of place I would like to visit.
