LILACS AND LOVE POEMS
by Claire Beadon Carnell
'Lilacs and Love Poems'
Oil 20 x 30
Did this painting some time back. When I do still lifes,
I always find it more intriguing if I can include items
that come from my family. In this case, the cupboard
the arrangement is sitting on as well as the ironstone
pitcher belonged to my mother, the book of poetry
was my grandfather's, and the old wire-rimmed glasses
belonged to my grandmother on my father's side.
The lilacs are from my garden.

Oh Claire - this is so lovely.
Claire, This has such a calming affect on me. Very nice.
Claire, I just love your lilac paintings! Like I said they are my husband and mine flower. Very special and painted with love.
Well gazing at this winsome painting brings back fond memories of my grandmother, bless her heart! My mom has a pitcher just like that...is it called Ironstone? And those lilacs, I can almost smell their fragrant aroma wafting through my home ...ahhh the smell of springtime! AND a book of poetry...just the perfect painting....who is the poet?
I, too, like your lilac paintings. You do them so well. I really like the idea of your putting in all those objects which hold such good memories for you...it adds up to a powerful painting.
Thanks, everyone!
This reminds me of my elderly neighbor from when I was a child growing up in Cleveland. So soft, gentle and with the lilacs... Funny how your memories can relate to mine.
Claire, this has to be favorite yet. I love the familial 'objets' that you used and it gives such a fabulous overall feeling of warmth and comfort. Lilacs have always been my favorite flowers and you've handled them beautifully.
