ICE CREAM BREAK By Cecelia Lyden

I painted this image from a photo I took at the Grand Canyon. It was a warm day and these girls were taking a respite from the touring and the heat. I loved their contemplative attitudes as they ate their cold treats. I also loved the way they held on to their Grand Canyon souvenir photos while they managed their ice cream . The different positions of their heads, their arms, legs and feet, in addition to their clothes and sneakers all made this a challenging, but fun picture to paint.

You've really caught the spirit of the moment; what a fun painting! The various sneakers are my favorite detail. (I wonder how the girl who chose the cone managed with her photo, after all!)
