This is really a great painting of a dragonfly but I think I like the blue eyed one better. I will be looking closer are the dragonfly at my pond this summer.

Would this be life-sized for this type of dragonfly? I have always admired and observed dragonflies when I come upon them, but your studies will have me looking at them a bit closer...you know I will be looking for that handsome one with the blue eyes!

I love the sunspots on his wings....gives me hope of the slowly approaching days of summer sun.......

Claire- This would be only 2/3 the size of the real Prince Baskettail species. Most of my dragonfly Studies are 2/3 size, except my triple format painting that are life size.

I agree with Charlotte. When I am up at the pond this summer, and they are eye to eye with me, I will be checking out the colors. Never knew there were different colors until I saw your paintings.
