Com-poser

Watercolors By Bertie Brown

"Com-poser"

Sunflowers

Sienna Brown faces

Framed in golden sun bonnets

Reading Emily's playful poetry

And Edna's soaring sonnets.

Their leaves a dark green canopy

Of swirling skirts, it seems to me.

Ever lavish, they grant their reward

Spilling sweet nectar, sharing their seeds

Filling up those thirsting

and hungering needs....BB '09

Bertie, this is stunning. Truly jaw-dropping to my mind. Very well done!

As an artist who works in detail on my watercolor, I admire the looseness of this painting. You capture the essence of the flower, and do not overwhelm the senses, but let the the viewer enjoy the sweet fragrance of the painting.

One of the best things about summer, for me, is painting the sunflowers that grow in my backyard! Thanks for the encouraging comments!
