Got up early this morning to take advantage of the sunshine and natural light to work on this painting. At this point I am working on establishing the dark areas that I will need to make the little sunny patches in the painting sparkle. Decided to use a limited palette of prussian blue, alizarin crimson and cadmium lemon. I am loving the subtle greens that are coming from this palette, and know that that using the limited palette will add to the unity of the piece.

Hi Claire -
I am really enjoying your series on this painting. Thank you for taking the time to blog about the progress. Hope to see you this Friday!
Claire, it is great to see this painting evolve like this. It's like a butterfly working its way out of that cocoon.
It is wonderful to be able to walk with you on your painting journey. What a nice painting.
Thanks, Mary Beth. I am looking forward to seeing you on Friday!
Thank you, Pat - like your allusion! Hopefully this will be an attractive butterfly when it emerges...
Thanks so much, Debra!
Claire, I've been trying to find you for awhile now and was so happy to see a couple of blogs listed under your name! I think you were one of my first followers and that made me quite happy. I love this log cabin and the whole sense of peace and calm that comes along with a cabin in the wilds of nature, so to speak. I'm rather wanting to move right on in here!
