'The Highlander' by Thom Glace

'The Highlander
Image Size: 4 1/2" x 6 1/2". Mat Size: 8" x 10"
Transparent Watercolor on Crescent Watercolor Board

One of my favorite places on earth is the Highlands of Scotland. Due to my career in International Marketing and as an Ex-Pat in Europe I was fortunate to have been to the Highlands over a dozen times. I love the starkness of the landscape, and wanted to highlight the feeling by placing a lone sheep in the landscape. This scene is of the West Coast of Scotland near the Isle of Skye.

Pretty! Makes me think about Ireland with its green hills!.. Oops, I'm so smart! It is a Scotland!... You are so lucky, Thom to be able to see all this. I hope someday I'll be able to travel more again with a good camera and some paints...

This is just gorgeous, Thom! I love the lone sheep standing amongst the green and rocks. This is much how I picture the Highlands. Wish I could go on over and visit myself!

I think this may now be my favorite Thom. It is really beautiful. The placement of your 1 sheep was a really good choice and the colors in your sky....gorgeous. This painting says a lot.

This is wonderful, Thom. I love the single sheep with water and craggy seaside behind. It is a place I want to go to someday, and this beautiful painting made that desire even stronger!
