FLURRIES
by Claire Beadon Carnell

'Flurries'
11 X 14 on linen panel
Currently for sale at Gallery 30

The grey-green barn and its outbuildings in this painting
are just across the road and down a bit from
where I live. When the barn was initially painted this
gorgeous color, I knew that I would be painting it
(I've already painted the outbuildings several
times - the owners used to keep chickens).

This past Winter, my husband and I were out
driving when it started to flurry. He saw that
look in my eyes, and knew he was going to be
out in the cold a bit longer while I got some
reference photos!

If you would like to see more of my work,
please go to my website or my blog.

Thank you!

Claire, this is a beautiful painting. Again, so unified. Being able to see through that barn on the left really add a lot of dimension. This will help prepare me for that snow storm we are to get on Saturday.LOL

I like this, the subtle, calm colors... on that cool day.

I so love scenes such as these, Claire. Out where I live, we have similar. I am always especially intrigued by those that slant...slant hard...and still stand! LOL Wish I could see the snow flurries!

Claire--I posted a comment this morning about this beautiful painting. I saw it listed but the comment has disappeared--this has happened a couple of times--I chose my Google account below--so I don't know what I'm doing wrong--any suggestions?

Claire, this is gorgeous. So simple and so down to the earth...Very impressive painting with limited palette and lot of grays. I checked out Gallery 30, looks like they have some very good landscape paintings there. Would be nice to stop by and take a look one day.

Thanks, Pat - it is starting to snow here already. I am so excited...snowed in for the weekend and I can paint, paint, paint!

Thank you so much, Maria. I built my palette around the subtle earth colors.

Thank you, Sherry. I have learned to carry a small camera with me to capture some of these old places. Too many times I have gone back to take photographs, and the buildings are laying in a heap on the ground!

Thank you, Linda. I am so looking forward to the snow tomorrow!

Cecilia, I honestly believe there are blog gremlins...this has happened to me more times than I can count. If the comments are moderated (not so on this blog), you have to look for the comment that indicates the comment has been accepted but will not be posted until blog owner approval. It tool me awhile to get used to that one.
