Field Trip - Maria Kovalenko Leysens
Every December I take my class to a local garden center to paint pointsettias. It is so lovely in the greenhouse with all the types of plants, colors and warmth on a cold day... While I was painting this demo, one of the employees came up to me and said the type of pointsettia I was painting was called "Monet." How appropriate!

Maria, I was just at a nursery yesterday and saw one of these incredible pointsettias there - you've captured their amazing colors perfectly.
I am just kicking myself that I didn't buy one!
Love the pointsettia, Maria. It's beautifully painted. Can't believe it's named Monet.
I wish you could see the beautiful, huge pointsettias I bought at Home Depot for under $6.00 each. I bought 5 of them and put them in 2 baskets. Instant Christmas! I'm going to photograph them right now and paint them after the holidays. Thank you for the inspiration.
