A few years ago I got tickets to the July
Gettysburg Battlefield re-enactment celebration
for my husband's birthday.  We were actually watching
a re-enactment of one of the battles when I turned
my head and saw these two women (and the little girl)
re-enactors coming up over a hill.  It was one of those times
where I was so grateful to have camera in hand!

This beautiful painting reminds me of how I "imagine" my summer visits to the battlefield ... humming bees, singing birds, the smell of sun-warmed fields. The reality somehow includes biting flies, tics, and sunburn. And yet, every year I start out imagining something akin to the feeling you've captured here. I love it!

I'm sure you knew right away that you would paint this this scene that you captured with your camera. I know the feeling when the right scene is there and you just can't wait to recreate it. It is beautiful!

You've got such a nice touch; the figures in the painting are lovely.
