"Dickinson College in Autumn" By Debra Tritt Kreiger
"Dickinson College in Autumn" 10"x8" Acrylic on canvasJust finished this painting. I'm glad I chose this scene to paint because it looks like we will be moving right along into winter! I was really taken by the beautiful surroundings of the Dickinson campus. The iron work on this gate is wonderful and I wanted to show case it. Having the beautiful trees in the background is a bonus!
This painting will be available for sale at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center's "Local Scenes exhibit" during Art for the Holidays. The opening reception will be on November 27 at 19 N Hanover Street, Carlisle, Pa.

"The King And I" by Deborah Nell
16"x 20" watermedia on Yupo paper
This was painted yesterday in about 30 minutes. I had a little time before I had to see some clients. Was so delighted that the first attempt was successful. My sister Andrea in California named the painting. She saw it on facebook and made that suggestion. It fits.
You can see more of my work at www.deborah-nell.artistwebsites.com
I also have my work displayed at Carroll Art Center in Westminster, MD. I'm one of 10 artists in a Show called "Full Figure" The Show runs till November 16th.

LATE SUMMER MORN ON THE BAY By Cecelia Lyden
It was a late August morning when I took this photo from the deck of my daughter's home on the Chesapeake Bay. The sun was up and the clouds were rolling in. A light breeze moved through grasses, already turning fall colors. Shadows cast from the house created strong contrasts on the grasses. This painting was done from my photo. I was down in Annapolis to help my daughter recoop from surgery. No time to paint, but time enough to drink my morning coffee on the deck and take lots of photos.

"The Blue Hound Barn" By Debra Tritt Kreiger
"The Blue Hound Barn" Acrylic on 10"x8" canvasThis is my second painting while plein air painting at the Blue Hound Farm in Lewisberry.
So many places to paint! I could hardly pick a spot! I felt this magnificent barn needed to be painted. It was bathed in the afternoon sun, which warmed me up a bit since it was a bit windy and cool.

Inherent Transparency Watercolor Eggplants and Pumpkin by Daily Painter Bertie Brown - Art is Instrumental

Inherent Transparency
original watercolor eggplants/pumpkin: 7" x 7"
as summer languished
in translucent honey haze
autumn revives
with transparent amber days
while indigo ink nights
blanket mile-high starry skies
and cooler winds collide
pushing summer’s heat aside
from translucent to transparent
these transitions are apparent
seasons come and seasons go...
nature’s cycle so inherent

PINCHOT PARK By Cecelia Lyden
You might not guess, with the use of so many warm colors in this fall scene, that this was an unusually cold, windy day for mid October. The sky was overcast [again] with some in and out sunshine. This was our paint out/picnic/meeting day. We were all bundled up, but we still enjoyed delicious food and warm camaraderie.

Out of Reach, a Colored Pencil Drawing by Amy Lindenberger
This is a drawing I created some years ago when invited to be included in a hardcover book entitled Creative Colored Pencil Portraits. The book/project was the brainchild of Colored Pencil Society of America founder, Vera Curnow. Vera provided a variety of photographs of this particular female model. Each artist selected for the book was to choose a photograph on which to base their composition. I selected a photograph of the model which featured her standing by this window with her arm outstretched. The second figure I added, and purposely kept rather ambiguous. My intention was to call to mind those times when, try as we might, we are powerless to reach certain people emotionally, or powerless to influence certain situations. The book is most likely out of print at this point, but I have seen it in some library collections.
Out of Reach eventually went on to be included in another book, The Best of Colored Pencil 4, and I am posting it today because it also happens to be my entry into the upcoming Members' Exhibition to be on display October 29 through November 28 at the Adams County Arts Council's brand new Arts Education Center at 125 S. Washington Street in Gettysburg. The Grand Opening is scheduled for 10 - 5 on Saturday, October 29 with tours of the new facility, performances, artist and culinary demonstrations and more. I will be demonstrating colored pencil techniques and watercolor pencil techniques from 11 until noon. Hope you can stop out and visit!

Watercolor Belly Dancers WIP by Kathy Michels
I am continuing my work on my watercolor belly dancer painting. The photo shows half of the painting. The full piece has two belly dancers. The dancers were dressed in goth instead of the brilliant color costumes I had anticipated. So I decided to focus on the knives and bellies and took a more artistic approach to the painting. It has been a challange and been fun dealing with the skin tones, lace, feathers, fake flowers, etc.
Watercolor pencil class by Dianne Lorden
I've been enjoying the watercolor pencil class with Amy Lindenberger at the Carlisle St. location (Gettysburg) of the Adams County Arts Council. (They've officially relocated to Washington St. and will have the Grand Opening on Oct. 29.) This picture represents a few of our exercises. I'm trying out this medium -- which is totally foreign to me; I've never even worked in traditional watercolors! -- on the DPP Challenge Blog October challenge. What a hoot! I've no idea how it's going to turn out. Amy is teaching this class with an emphasis on techniques for laying down a foundation for a traditional colored pencil illustration. My artwork can be seen on South Mountain Sketchbook
"An Opened Gate" By Debra Tritt Kreiger

This past Saturday I spent a sunny windy day on the Blue Hound Farm in Lewisberry with fellow artist plein aire painting. I decided to take my acrylics along since it was so windy. This is a view from the lawn looking towards the entrance. The colors in the trees were perfect and the sun was nice and bright. Had a great time and am looking forward to the next time!

ANDY SMITH, watercolors ~ Lititz, PA
Untitled... this will be available at my
Annual Open House in November
I used this painting as a demonstration on my blog.
To see the progress go to:
www.andysmithartist.blogspot.com
Start on Sept. 26 with the drawing.
No fancy tricks here. It is hand drawn, my usual palette;
no special paints for the copper! The paint felt like
it just flowed off my brush. I am in a painting sweet
spot!
Coastal California by Christine Marx
This is one of the plein air paintings completed on my trip out West. It was a lot of fun standing on the cliffs, overlooking the Pacific, with about 60 other painters. It was so fun walking around seeing all the different interpretations of the same view, with so many different color palettes!
